Why you should add the 2020 Pantone Class Blue color of the year to your wedding colors

2020 is only weeks away and Pantone has shared the color of the year. ‘Classic Blue’ is a color that has caused a bit of confusion. People have been sharing on social media they wanted a warmer color, richer, or even ‘prettier’ color. But we have to disagree. Blue is the new black. Pantone describes Classic Blue as '“Imprinted in our psyches as a restful color, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge. Aiding concentration and bringing laser-like clarity, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue re-centers our thoughts. A reflective blue tone, Classic Blue fosters resilience.” During wedding planning, who wouldn’t want to have the feeling of tranquility and peace? Blue is a shade that has a lot of representation throughout national brands and it does make a stunning event planning color. This doesn’t mean that all weddings need to be a sea of blue details, but be prepared to see hints of blue and cooler tones this wedding season. “I think most people forget there are variations of every color. I’m sure there will be different ranges of blue in 2020. This doesn’t mean that everything will be this specific shade, but we may start to see shades of cooler tones entering event decor, design, and interior design industries.” -Jamie O’Neill, The Bridal Finery Fashion Director.

Here’s how you should add the hues of blues to your wedding day.

Blue Wedding Decor, Rentals, and Floral

We like to think we are always one step ahead of trends. In June 2019, we hosted monthly Fashion Presentations where we displayed unique and nontypical wedding colors and trends. We pushed the envelope a bit and each week we’re inspired by different interior design elements, runway makeup trends, and even music. During our third week, we hosted a fashion presentation that was very different than what most brides were using as wedding planning inspiration. Inspired by white linens, summer, and cool tones, our fashion presentation hosted quite a bit of Classic Blue.

Blue Wedding Dress

Wedding dresses in a range of colors is becoming more and more popular every day. Brides are requesting blush, blue, and even black wedding gowns. Blue wedding gowns are an excellent option for the bride who simply doesn’t like to wear white or ivory. The light shades of ivory and white don’t always work for all skin tones, but blue does. Blue is a soft and very feminine way to feel like yourself on your wedding day and to still feel and look like a bride. These are a few of our favorite blue wedding dresses.

Blue Groom’s Suit

Let’s face it. Not all men like to dress up and wear suits. Shocking right!? Some of them wear suits on wedding day because we ask them too! Blue suits are more attractive to men who don’t like to dress up. The relaxing shades of blue feel less formal and more relaxed than a black suit. If your fiance is not super excited about what he’ll be wearing to the wedding, present to him the idea of wearing a blue suit. He knows, he may actually love it! He’ll look handsome, and be your ‘something blue’.

Elegant Dark Blue Bridesmaid’s Dresses

When someone says they are having their bridesmaids wearing blue dresses, most people automatically get nervous and scared by the idea. However, there are endless dark shades of blue that are elegant and rich. A deep and rich blue is beautiful on so many different shades of women and is more warm and welcoming than black. Consider rich blue bridesmaids dresses for your wedding.
