Continue to read as we share all about the bride’s wedding dress and their stunning reception decor.

About Alexia’s Elegant Destination Wedding in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Alexia is a total fashion bride and we adored styling her. From her stylish everyday outfits to her super cute bridal shower outfit, she is always giving us major outfit inspo! Keeping her good taste in clothing and being a bride in mind, she needed to find not just the right dress, but the perfect dress. The Bridal Finery Owner and Bridal Stylist, Roberta, helped Alexia find the perfect wedding dress for her destination wedding. Alexia sais “yes!” to the ‘Serenity’ gown by Monique Lhuillier. This Monique Lhuillier wedding dress features a strapless neckline, lace fitted skirt, and pearl button details along the train. Alexia added a detachable tulle skirt and finished it with a bow by Carolina Herrera. Alexia is a lover of accessories as well so when it was time to find the perfect bridal jewelry and accessories, Roberta and Alexia worked together to find those pieces. For the ceremony, Alexia wore ‘The Vamp’ earrings by Paris by Debra Moreland. ‘The Vamp’ earrings feature silver and clear crystal pearl studs. The studs gave Alexia a clean and classic look that completed her look perfectly. Because Alexia is so fashionable and loves to switch up her look, it only made sense for her to change her look for the reception. Alexia traded her simple earrings and hair sleek hair for a chic low ponytail and large pearl hoop earrings by Maria Elena Headpieces. Her reception look was fun, flirty, and perfection.

Alexia & Daniel’s classic white and gold wedding decor at their wedding at The Catedral Metropolitana Basílica de San Juan

Alexia & Daniel’s wedding was a dreamy and luxurious affair. Colors of white, gold, greenery consumed the spaces of the 500-year-old historic building. Family and friends gathered to celebrate the couple’s love. Dinner, dancing, hugs, and kisses were all exchanged at their wedding. Tables were set with gold candelabras, stunning glassware, centerpieces of white flowers and tulips, and floating white candles. Alexia described the reception as “dreamy”. We loved the classic and luxurious feel that was hosted in the historic building.

Q & A with Alexia:

How did you & your partner meet? : We meet at Rollins College during a crew party on Dog Island. He was the roommate of one of my teammates. Although we didn't talk at the party, it was the first time we saw each other. After that, we became really close friends due to all the things in common we had!

Where was your first date? : Our first date was at the WP Movie Theater with in-theater dining. Even though it sounds simple, its a tradition we still keep close to heart. We try to make every Friday date Friday and go out for movie and dinner - just like old times.

How did your partner propose? : Daniel proposed to me while traveling to California. We had planned a birthday trip to LA and Malibu since we had loved it so much last time we visited. Although Alex loves to plan, Danny surprised her during a day trip to Malibu to visit Stanley the giraffe and drink around the Malibu Wine Safari experience. The last stop of the safari was on a hilltop overlooking the whole winery. While Alex went to use the restroom, Danny organized their travel pictures on top of two wine barrels with even a saved cork of a wine bottle they had drank previously. Overlooking the hill, once Alex returned Danny took her and walked her over to the barrels to overlook the winery. He then asked her to continue to travel with him around the world and be his wife.

What was your dress shopping experience like? : It was absolutely fantastic. I loved working with Roberta. I felt like I've known her for years and she knew me. After only a few dresses she knew I had found my dress, and I did too. I cannot tell engagement friends enough how they need a Roberta in their life (for their wedding)!

What did you wish you knew before you started wedding planning?: Everything happens for a reason. If something is truly not working out - let it go. Your day will be magical no matter what. So just enjoy the process, the planning and the dream become reality.

Where was your wedding? What did you decide on that space?: Viejo San Juan, Puerto Rico ; Ceremony - The Catedral Metropolitana Basílica de San Juan & Reception - Casa de España

What's your favorite memory from your event? : Our favorite memory was walking out to the dance floor for the first dance. We danced to "Quiero Caminar de Tu Mano" and sang every line of it to one another. We truly believe that the lyrics speaks to our relationship and how we will love each other for years to come. It was all a dream once our cold fireworks sparked the dance floor behind us and we danced and kissed the song away.

What is a 'must have' for brides on wedding day?: A smile. The planning is over and it is time to enjoy the celebrations & party!

How would you describe the overall feel of your event? : It was absolutely a dream! We loved every detail and we could not have done it with our amazing vendor team and the support of our family and friends. We are so blessed to had made unforgettable memories with our tribe!

What wedding planning advice do you have for other brides? : If you have a vision, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Anything can be done if you set your mind to it and you have patience to figure out the best plan for your special day!

Where was your honeymoon? : Our honeymoon will be in Abu Dhabi, Seychelles & South Africa!
