Sustainable Fashion and Ethical Fashion: What Everyone is Talking About and What it Means

Our Fashion Director, Jamie O’Neill had the opportunity to guest speak on the Orange Blossom Bride podcast. This was my first time speaking on a podcast, so I wanted to share something that has been recently talked about and something not everyone understands. Sustainability in fashion is a new concept designers and retailers are now taking into consideration. In 2019, we are starting to care about things that are bigger than us. While use of minimal straws and plastic cups are good, it’s important to consider what we wear everyday. Because fashion and sustainability aren’t always thought of as the same thing, we never think about the affects of the fashion industry. According to The Fashion Law, “By 2030, it is predicted that the industry’s water consumption will grow by 50 percent to 118 billion cubic meters (or 31.17 trillion gallons), its carbon footprint will increase to 2,791 million tons and the amount of waste it creates will hit 148 million tons.”

Florida Outdoor Estate Wedding with Fresh Greenery and Crepe Wedding Dress

I tried on 2 dresses and immediately loved both. But when I put “the dress” back on, my parents and I both knew that it was the one. Suddenly, the confusion was gone, and it was super clear! It felt so much like me and it was exactly what I had been saying I wanted.
The whole process from then on was a breeze! I worked with Roberta from start to finish - picking out the dress to the very last fitting. The fittings and alterations were always so detail oriented, and it was clear that Sarah really cared and wanted everything to be perfect. Even after I dropped the “Surprise - I’m pregnant!” bomb! They made my dress PERFECT for my baby bump. I couldn’t have been happier!

International Couple Hosts Destination Weekend Wedding in Honduras

When Daniele sat down for her bridal shopping appointment, she shared with me all her wedding weekend plans.. You could tell they have so much love to share that a weekend was more appropriate. I had a wedding weekend as well and instantly connected with her wedding plans. Daniele is from Brazil and her husband, Ivan, is from Honduras. They decided on a wedding weekend in Roatan, Honduras. She already found her beach wedding dress from designer Berta. When she came into The Bridal Finery she was on the hunt for her church wedding dress. It needed to still have a beach vibe but church appropriate. We really focused on finding something that was a completely different look than her Berta wedding dress

The Bridal Finery Fashion Presentations - Tropical Summer Wedding Blooms

On June 18, our third week of our Fashion Presentations, we celebrated the begging of summer. Our boutique only 10 minutes outside of Orlando, was designed and stylized with tropical bright green palms, birds of paradise florals, and even hand painted palms featuring a royal blue color. When finding inspiration for this week, I took a ready to wear approach. While I am infamously known to wear a lot (I mean a lot) of black, I am living for the Spring/Summer 2019 neon trend. It’s summer, why not wear fun colors? We featured this trend while still keeping bridal and weddings in mind. During our presentation, attending guests sipped on our signature champagne drink and snacked on watermelon panna cotta with honey goat cheese balls and watermelon slices while we showcased our newest collection of designer wedding gowns.
